Why is equinox gym so expensive

If you're serious about leg day, then you know. There are some perks to working out on a consistent schedule. You feel good about yourself in the mirror and your body doesn't feel as sluggish. The question is, what gym suits your needs? For some people, the low payment offered at Planet Fitness is more than enough. Some people prefer Crunch or CrossFit gyms. The Equinox gym is a whole other level in terms of pricing, amenities and is favored among celebrities. Let's take a look at why it's so expensive.

The GIF of eyes bulging out of your head in shock just happened. One of the perks of having a membership is their own clothing stores. We have seen this before with other gyms marketing their own merchandise to their members. Although, its normal to see people wear Planet Fitness shirts even if they don't have a membership.

Equinox, on the other hand, has its own store and its unclear on whether or not you can just walk in and buy off the hangers. Their site does say you can book an appointment to get a tour of the gym, but no answer if you can just walk in to buy from their store.

The Equinox Spa has its own exception that doesn't need a membership. A majority of Equinox gyms have their own spa facilities that have an array of body and facial treatments. They offer Hydra-facials, regenerative massage, aromatherapy facials, 3 lab super platinum anti-aging facials and much more. They even do hot stone therapy massages. After some investigation, non-members can book spa appointments at available spa locations. Prices beware.

After an intense workout, you need to cool off and relax the muscles. Equinox has some swanky in-gym amenities that make membership seem worth it. Warning, not all amenities are available at every single gym. On their website, they advertise luxury perks like cool eucalyptus towels and filtered water stations to stay hydrated during your workout.

Certain locations even have steam rooms and saunas. What makes things a little more luxurious is the complimentary Khiel's hair and body products, razors, shower caps and tools to fix your hair.

Some locations even have laundry service! Check out our complete review of F If you live in a big city and can afford a membership, I would recommend Equinox.

They tend to be nicer and have better amenities even though they get more crowded. However, in my experience, the suburban locations charge too much for what they offer. There are other gyms that offer the same amount of amenities, if not more, and are more than half the price of an Equinox membership.

Amanda Dvorak is a freelance writer and powerlifting enthusiast. Amanda played softball for 12 years and discovered her passion for fitness when she was in college.

In addition to powerlifting, Amanda also enjoys running and cycling. I recently worked out at Equinox with one of my friends to find out if a membership is worth it. Pros Equinox has a lot of fun group classes.

Equinox has a great selection of classes, including Pilates, boot camp, barre, martial arts, boxing, spinning, and yoga. You can also take strength-based and running-based classes. People love the instructors and find them motivating and supportive. You can use chalk. They just ask that you clean up after yourself and wipe your barbell down afterward which everyone should do, anyway.

The cold eucalyptus towels are great for cooling down. Before I visited Equinox, I had read reviews about how much people loved the cold eucalyptus towels. It was such a refreshing way to get my body to cool down before I left the gym. Equinox has amazing showers. The shower stalls are luxurious and Equinox provides items like shampoo, conditioner, cotton balls, hairspray, and blow dryers.

Cons Some locations can get really crowded. Every gym has its peak hours that are usually between 5 PM and 7 PM, but you can usually still find a free machine. At the very least, you may only have to wait a couple of minutes for one to become available.

The hours at some locations are limiting. Unlike other gyms that are open 24 hours or at least until 11 PM, some Equinox locations close at 8 or 9 PM. This is a drawback for people who work odd hours or like to work out late at night. Free Trial Before you join Equinox, you can sign up for a free day pass online. Does Equinox Have Squat Racks? I also saw a few complaints that while the classes are top-notch, the schedule varies from week to week and month to month, making it hard to continue taking the classes you love on a regular basis.
